»Guernica | Ikone des Friedens« | Group show with Brigitte Kowanz
Museum Hofburg Innsbruck (AT)
Opening: Friday, September 21, 2018
Exhibition until November 2, 2018

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the end of the 1st World War, which coincides with the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Austria and the separation of North and South Tyrol, the Hofburg Palace in Innsbruck will present a sensational exhibition. The original draft (on cardboard) for Pablo Picasso’s famous tapestry »Guernica« (exhibited in the foyer of the United Nations) comes to Austria for the first time.

Under the title »Thoughts on Guernica«, around 33 well-known contemporary artists from Austria and the Euregio area will investigate the theme of peace for this exhibition. Their works form the important second part of the show, as they function as bridge builders in the 21st century, i.e. in the present, and can be understood as a strong collective appeal for peace.
