In the exhibition »Hello Again« Häusler Contemporary Zurich proudly recent paintings and works on paper by American artist Judy Ledgerwood (born 1959 in Brazil, Indiana). Following her much noticed first solo exhibition in Switzerland at our gallery in 2008, the artist will now show her new group of works executed in encaustic.

Influenced by extensive travel in India this year in spring Judy Ledgerwood will exhibit her new works inspired by the Indian Holi festival of colors. During this festival in spring people throw colored powders and colored water on each other. The color swirls and whirls that result of this can be found in the works in encaustic by the artist. The pigments dissolved in hot wax develop luminous power and intense chromaticity. The painting obtains tension due to asymmetrically spread color within the symmetrical structure of the works. The paintings recall Mandala, a singular meditation, and possess a strong physical character due to pastose paint application.
