»Passing Through Color« is what the American painter Judy Ledgerwood (born 1959) calls her exhibition at Häusler Contemporary München. Under this motto we present in our gallery a confrontation of ornamentally structured color field paintings as that have been developed by Ledgerwood continually since the 1990’s, and latest works created in the rare technique of encaustic. In all of these works, color is the open secret that takes the viewer on a »journey« of special experiences. Since the 1980’s Judy Ledgerwood has created canvasses and wall paintings in which color, its light and its intrinsic spatiality, play an important role. Very consciously the artist thus also positions herself within the recent history of art and its treatment of color and form.
