»Turn the green light on«
Institut Français, Vienna
Opening: May 13, 2014

Exhibition until June 6, 2014

Up from May 13, 2014, the Institut Français in Vienna presents recent works by the Austria-based artists Sébastien de Ganay. The traffic light to which the title alludes does not only appear in a video work but also in real as a quasi-Ready Made, slightly damaged, thus acting as a key motif of the exhibition. Other components form our everyday life too become obvious as inspirations for de Ganay’s artistic investigations, per example in a new version of chair objects reminiscent of deerstands, or as direction signs overlie pictures by Le Gray, a pioneer in photography. It’s an exhibition that provides space for various associations, and even though talking of regulations and prohibitions it appears quite cheerful and serene.
