The installation by Brigitte Kowanz (1957 – 2022) is part of a curatorial master plan based on a concept by Evtixia Bibassis and Patrick Huber, which SBB and the City of Zurich are jointly implementing in Europaallee. From its location on the roof of the foremost building on Europaplatz, the artwork sends its message «Always A Way» out into the city once an hour in Morse code.
(...) The message shining at us from the roof of the frontmost building is twofold: «ALWAYS A WAY ALWAYS AWAY». We are physically there, on Europaplatz - and yet always somewhere else at the same time, because we are permanently networked via technology with other places and contents. This critical thought-provoking impulse is balanced by the proverbial hope that there is always a way.

On the occasion of the opening, Häusler Contemporary Zurich is dedicating a presentation to Brigitte Kowanz with works previously unpublished in Switzerland. For more information, please click here Brigitte Kowanz | Summer - Insert.
