COMPANY PORTRAIT

Häusler Contemporary was founded in 1988 in Bregenz, Austria, by Wolfgang Häusler and Dr. Christa Häusler. In 1992, the company relocated to Munich, initially focusing on project work connecting art and commerce. Concurrently, Häusler Contemporary steadily expanded its gallery activities. In 2007, Häusler Contemporary Zurich opened with an exhibition by James Turrell, and in 2020, the gallery operation moved there. Häusler Contemporary Munich continues as an office for art sales and project management. In the art and architecture realm, we initiate and support high-profile commissioned works, including installations by James Turrell, Brigitte Kowanz, Hamish Fulton, and Keith Sonnier.
James Turrell and Wolfgang Häusler have had a trusted collaboration for more than 30 years. The impressive diversity and dynamism of these projects have led us to focus our work on James Turrell as of September 2023. In addition to commissioned works currently in progress, Häusler Contemporary possesses a wide range of the artist's installative, sculptural, and graphic works, as well as two collections that reflect James Turrell's entire artistic development, from his early works to his latest Glass Series. Selected works by gallery artists such as David Reed, Gary Kuehn, Keith Sonnier, and others will continue to be part of Häusler Contemporary's portfolio for our customers.

Häusler Contemporary chooses its represented artistis specifically, unsolicited artist applications can unfortunately not be considered.
