The exhibition Hamish Fulton «Linking the invisible footsteps of 3 seven day walks on Southern Italy Oktober 2019» is organized by the Donnaregina Foundation and the Morra Greco Foundation as part of «Cultural Actions of the Donnaregina Foundation» Project XXI.
«My coast to coast walk from Napoli to Trani was my 49th seven day walk. (Various countries 1978 - 2019.) In the English language, volcano is a seven letter word (fire - bearing mountain.) Vesuvio is a seven letter name (...). I have walked up to the summit rims of ten separate volcanoes in various countries.» Hamish Fulton
Hamish Fulton focuses on one major thematic complex in his art: nature and man’s experience of nature. Over the past 30 years the artist has been undertaking extended walking tours on the world’s five continents. Using drawings made during these tours, he later processes the respective experiences in his work. He aims to find a generally valid form for the primal and direct relationship between man and the earth in all its diversity.
