For about thirty years, Häusler Contemporary has been presenting and promoting conceptual painting, drawing and sculpture. In the context of this year's OPEN art, we now present an exhibition that focuses on the exciting ways in which the latter two artistic fields interact: with selected works on paper by internationally renowned artists, we highlight the diversity of what drawing can be. It ranges from the sketch-like recording of first ideas of an object – for example in the case of Gary Kuehn’s works – to the precise representation of a production instructions as in Barry Le Va’s drawings. Many sculptors, including Hubert Kiecol, create drawings independently and parallel to the sculptural work, whereas new impulses provided to conceptual drawings in the age of the digitization become evident in Brigitte Kowanz’s work.
In our show, this impressive and in some respects very intimate palette of drawing enters into dialogue with objects by Brigitte Kowanz or Keith Sonnier, so that viewers can retrace the artistic path from the sheet into the space.
