Häusler Contemporary is delighted to announce the exhibition «Transposition» in cooperation with the Diözesanmuseum Freising.
Kyung-Lim Lee (*1957) developed her visual language without any figurativeness. Her works mostly show geometric basic figures, reminding of stronomic phenomena or even landscapes. The title «Transposition» refers to change, transfer or transformation and describes how everyday phenomena are transferred by the artist into her own formal language. In the form of basic shapes, such as circles, rectangles or ellipses, she visualizes these "transformations" outside of space and time.
Through the use of luminous, sometimes translucent colors, the objects acquire a special surface tension. Often as if illuminated by an indeterminate light source, the forms develop into bodies, shells and shadows. In the process, they appear almost alive and weightless, acquiring a two- or even three-dimensional quality.
The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive publication.
