This publication is appearing in connection with Jürgen Partenheimer’s exhibition «16 of One Hundred Poets» at Häusler Contemporary Zürich.

In the pandemic year 2020, Partenheimer completed the work cycle of the «One Hundred Poets» with 201 works on paper and 54 paintings. Drawings and watercolours, each based on a poem by 16 female poets from 12 countries, were selected from this convolute. Among them are famous names such as Ingeborg Bachmann, Emily Dickinson or Sappho, but also names such as Clara Janés, Gonca Özmen or Alice Oswald, who are less familiar in the German-speaking world.

The publication by the Golden Luft Verlag, which is presented as part of the current exhibition, juxtaposes 16 poems by 16 women poets in the original and in German translation with Partenheimer's pictorial responses.

With Poems by Elizabeth Bishop, Emily Dickinson, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Ingeborg Bachmann, Anne Carson, Anja Kampmann, Alice Oswald, Clara Janés, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, Janet Frame, Lucie Brock-Broido, Lebogang Mashile, Gonza Özmen, Sappho, Alison Croggon, Anne Sexton.
