Häusler Contemporary is pleased to present our new presentation «Roman Signer – Editions» in the Collector's Room, offering a unique insight into the extensive work of the renowned Swiss artist. Parallel to the large solo exhibition «Roman Signer – Landscape», which can be seen at the Kunsthaus Zürich from April, our show, with a focus on Signer's editions, takes up some of the works presented there and traces his diverse artistic work from over 50 years of practice.
We have the pleasure of exclusively presenting the new two-part edition «Versuch mit zwei Turbinen» (2025) - a work that is also at the center of the exhibition at Kunsthaus Zürich and impressively negotiates the interplay of experiment, event and ephemeral sculpture.
Roman Signer's works constantly open up new perspectives on the everyday world through their experimental exploration of time, movement and the elements. He sees himself as a sculptor, his art as a dynamic form of «time sculpture»: simple objects such as buckets, skis, stools, sand, umbrellas or kayaks are placed in unexpected situations in order to thematize problems, actions and time sequences in space. The results are created in a field of tension between control and chance, the spontaneous and the ephemeral, beauty and destruction, gravity and lightness. The moments captured in time and space thus become the expression of a sometimes humorous, sometimes profound interaction between man, object and nature. The very special poetry of Signer's work lies in the unexpected encounters, playful dynamics and great joy of experimentation with which the artist invites us viewers to see the world anew.
