Sculptures, actions, films and photographs make him one of Switzerland’s most famous, internationally renowned contemporary artists. His actions – at times, spectacular, at others, quiet and understated – have singularly enriched the world of art since the early 1970s. His substantial sculptural oeuvre com- prises countless installations, often explosive actions that incorporate the elemental forces of fire, water, air and earth. More often than not, photographs and films are the only records that have survived of these ephemeral events, conducted both with and without an audience. The image that we have of the artist Roman Signer, who uses the traditional term «sculptor» to describe his occupation, is based largely on photographs and films as well as sculptures in public space that bear witness to his actions.
The special edition, consisting of a photograph of the work «Sculpture», 2019, a lithograph of the drawing «Four Kayaks», 2022, and a lithograph of the revised digital model view for Kinderspital Zürich, 2022, by Herzog & de Meuron, exemplifies Roman Signer’s approach to his work.
The limited edition, totaling 50 pieces, is available exclusively at Häusler Contemporary. 100% of the revenue will be donated to the project at the children's hospital.
