This autumn, the Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur is showing a comprehensive exhibition with sketches by Roman Signer (*1938).
In recent years, Roman Signer has given these sketches increased attention and in some cases integrated them into exhibitions. Now, for the first time, they are the focus of an exhibition at the Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur, providing an overview of Signer's work over the last 50 years. The sketches are a key to Roman Signer's artistic work and reveal the core of his expanded understanding of sculpture. They show ideas for objects, actions, films and installations and document how changes can be experienced through the influence of various forces. The fleetingness of the sketches takes the character of his "Temporary sculptures", which are the hallmark of this internationally celebrated Swiss artist.
On the occasion of the exhibition "Roman Signer. Sketches" an extensive publication will be published. It includes a text by Stephan Kunz and more than 700 illustrations.
The catalog is published by Walther König Verlag Köln.
